We have been praying for this for years………
It was April 2012 when we first visited the city which became our home. The visit included a walk through one of the worst neighbourhoods we have ever seen. Condescendingly called “The Big Pit” by the locals, it was where our hearts were broken to the point of saying…something has to be done! Something was…The Propel Initiative.
Since then we have been working in two other nearby villages, only because we had no point of contact in The Big Pit. Guess what? We do now!!!
And, we also have been blessed by the 40+ new sponsors who helped us assure every kid already registered in Propel is covered!!!! (This a Big Deal!!! Over the years, with the 140+ kids we are helping (or have helped) we have never had every kid sponsored before.)
With those two pieces in place we now take another huge leap of faith – we want to find 20 sponsors for kids living in the Big Pit…before we even get a chance to meet them. Follow me on this…there is a method to the madness.
If we can get 20 sponsors now (as in 2022) we can go to families in the Big Pit, not with just a promise of helping them if we get a sponsor, but with assurance they will be helped for the 2023 school year.
Have we done this before? Nope.
Do we know if it will work? Nope.
Will we stop at 20 kids? Nope.
