The WOWNESS Continues!!!!

You know we have made some in-roads regarding meeting families in the Big Pit. Our hearts are yearning to help more kids like this….

Wow #1: Remember how we were celebrating getting names for 15 kids in the Big Pit?? We missed the goal. We blew it. When the smoke settled and the dust cleared we found we had helped 28 kids!!! Thank God there were already enough sponsors and funds from The H.I.K.E. 2023 to make this a reality. Our thanks to everyone who made this leap possible!!!!

Wow #2: Speaking of The H.I.K.E….in a series of events both unplanned and wonderful, we will have a second fundraiser this year. A most dear friend (Yes, Jason Hoag, you) and his brother have put together an event we could not help calling The B.I.K.E. Jason and Matt will be cycling from Pittsburgh to Washington DC, yep – all 335 miles (500km for our metric-minded friends). Check out the most excellent video Jason’s Brother (Matt) put up on YouTube. You can also follow their progress …Look for updates and videos on our Facebook page.

Wow #3: For those of you wondering how you can be part of the continuing WOWNESS. Great News!!! We have met some new families with kids who need help. If sponsors can start their contributions now, there will be enough $$$ to kit out these kids for the 2024 school year. More info on kids needing sponsors can be found here>>>Students

Wow #4: On a personal note. It has been 18 months since Paul’s surgery. He had a follow-up appointment with his doctor last week, and there is no sign of any cancer! Praying this continues to be the case for every future visit.

Wow# 5: Mary and Maja have been Super Troupers!!!! (yes that is the correct spelling). Over the past 5-6 weeks they have distributed vouchers for supplies and sneakers to about 120 kids. They’ve arranged bus passes for all the high schoolers, and are almost done getting the high school textbooks. And…yes there is more…they have been working with the parents of all the new families as we work towards getting student info and pictures. Talk about a Dynamic Duo!

Wow #6: We need help, as in some new folks to be part of the Propel Team. Our esteemed Secretary/Treasurer, Mr Lawrence Moore, has let us know he needs to offer up his position to a replacement. So, we need a new Sec/Treasurer! This is a volunteer position, and requires a max of about 10 hours a month. Interested in knowing more about whether or not you’d be the perfect person for this role? Contact Paul for answers to all your questions.

The other person needed is a part-time bookkeeper. This is a role Mary has faithfully filled for many years, and as we look towards our eventual semi-retirement (don’t panic), it is time to pass the fun onto someone new. Knowledge of bookkeeping and Quickbooks is essential. If you are thinking you’d like to hear more details, please contact Mary.

Be blessed. Be a blessing.

Paul and Mary
