Summertime Blues

It just isn’t a proper summer without Camp!

For the past five years Propel has been hosting Education Camps for the kids in the villages where we serve. These Camps are the highlight of the kids’ summer break. How do we know? Easy. Starting in February the kids start asking….not IF there will be a Camp, but WHEN?

Usually, these Camps are put together in partnership with our supporting churches. They send a team to host the camp, and they help cover the expenses. But, with COVID-19…no teams this year! Does this mean no Camp?

No Way!!!!!

Last year Propel applied for a grant to start an after-school program. We wanted to have tutors available to assist kids with homework and other subject help. Right after the grant was approved, we received word the schools are now providing after-school classes and activities. Bummer.

We contacted the grantor, said “Thank You, but we couldn’t use the funds as requested”. We expected they’d simply say, “OK, thanks for letting us know. Goodbye.” But we were wrong!

Guess what??? This morning we were told the funds are available to be used for Camp!!! Yipee!!!!

Mary is putting together a team of creative crazies to develop a theme and the associated activities. If you are a kid person and use that Super Power for good., please contact Mary… she’d love to hear your ideas. (Email Mary)

Now all we need do is pray that by early July we can actually have 70+ kids in the same place at the same time.

We love you.
We miss you.

To our US peeps…we hope to be in the States from early October through late December. We’d love to see your faces and share hugs.
Be blessed. Be a blessing.

We are running on faith, but we are not running alone

PS. On a personal note…we are well. We are healthy and making wise choices. Serbia just ended the State of Emergency and associated curfews. There are still some restrictions, and the need to be careful. Gloves, masks, social distancing, no large gatherings, etc., are still the norm. Hoping and praying you are healthy and safe.
